WHAT ROLES CAN YOU PLAY AS A CPPS MEMBER?

Be part of the Parent Communication Network

School representative. Represent CPPS in your school community. Make brief reports to PTA and/or LSAC meetings on CPPS projects and District developments. Share CPPS communications with other parents at your school through school newsletter, email tree, etc. Connect active parents with CPPS events. Let CPPS know issues of concern and successes at your school.

Cluster representative. Stay in touch with other CPPS representatives in your cluster. Make introductory CPPS presentations at schools with no representative (we’ll train you).

Be part of CPPS project teams
–Daytime meetings often required.

School Fair Committee. Help plan and publicize the annual School Fair, co-sponsored by CPPS, the District, and the Portland Schools Foundation.

Site Council Training Committee. Join a partnership effort to develop and deliver site council training throughout the District.

Site Council Trainer. Volunteer to be a site council trainer. We’ll train you to deliver the training modules and work with school site councils.

Help build the CPPS organization

Board member. Help set policy to guide CPPS.

Fundraising. If you’ve written grant applications, met with foundation staff, organized fundraising drives, or have experience in organizational development, we can use your help.

Media. Help us get our story out to the greater community.

Membership Committee. Help us recruit, orient, and keep our members connected.

Very important, but less intense, commitments of time

Help with events. Guide parents at the School Fair, staff the registration table at the Parent Leadership Conference, help set up chapter meetings.

Administrative assistance. From time to time, we need help with data entry and mailings. If your student needs some community service hours, we may be able to put them to work.
