For several years, CPPS has given short presentations at back to school nights all over PPS – last year, CPPS made budget and funding presentations to parents at 68 schools in the fall of 2006.

We are gearing up to do another round of presentations at area schools at the annual Back to School presentation (or upcoming PTA meeting or other parent gathering, for schools that don’t have a large parent meeting component of their BTS night.) For the first time this year, we are in a situation where the presentation does not need to be about a financial crisis – a nice change! Working with the District, we have prepared a short presentation where we discuss two topics:

  1. The new District policy that mandates parent and family involvement plans at every school (a policy we were instrumental in developing.) We want to tell people about this mandate and help them find the tools and information they need to effectively participate in creating these plans.
  2. The upcoming community conversations around our facilities – a very important issue in PPS. We believe that it’s critical to have parents at the table as the District continues to evaluate what our school buildings should be.

Both topics continue the work that CPPS considers our core mission this year – to take the findings from our Parent Involvement Project and use them to increase and strengthen meaningful parent involvement in all of our schools, for all of our kids.
